Party till the cows come home

I've always loved this Elzybells sentiment stamp and I'm glad I managed to get a few before they closed down.  A bonus is that it goes perfectly with my new Penny Black stamp, which I absolutely adore.  I finally found a place in North America that carries all the PB range, so if you're a fan try PB Stamps.  John was even nice enough to un-mount all the stamps I ordered to save on shipping - sweet huh?

I kept this card pretty simple to let my fun image shine - although I think it still needs something, bling maybe?

One last thing, on a candy note - please check out Wickdy's Creations for a great one.  I'm not normally a blog candy person, mainly cause I'm too lazy to post them all, but a gift certificate to Whimsey stamps was hard to pass up.  Fingers crossed!

It's magic...

Ever have an idea about how a card should turn out and then actually have it work?  I'm not always so fortunate, sometimes my inspirations exceed my abilities!  This slider card came about as I was looking through my Cat's Pajamas Stamps and thought that literally having a bunny coming out of the hat would be fun.
The hardest part was finding the template, as there's a bunch of different slider cards out there.  (Sorry, I should have saved the link and now I can't find it again!)  To make this card, you cut 2 slits in your paper and add a loop of paper through them that will slide up and down.  Then you just have to make sure you don't put any sticky behind the slits or it won't work!  (If you look closely, just can see the slits behind the pull tab.)  Pure magic!

Poorly pup

This card was also made last Sunday - gotta love those lazy, rainy weekends.  Unfortunately, the recipient of this one is my Nanny - she had a stroke and is in hospital.  She has made some improvements and is heading for several weeks of rehab so we wanted to pass along our best wishes.
And for some strange reason, I have not used this stamp before.  It may have something to do with the sheer numbers of stamps I have...Funny story, I gave my husband my stamp book to flip through and pick an image for a card he wanted.  After about 10 minutes, he says "Wow, you have a lot of stamps.  How many of these have I paid for?"  Ummm...

Special delivery

Oh, what a gloomy, rainy Sunday it is here in Ottawa - a perfect day for crafting I think!  I finished my 2nd Christmas card of the year (whoo hoo!) and I thought I better get my butt in gear and post it since I have not posted in a week.  I have noticed that with no DT deadlines to make, the call of the horizontal position on the couch has been quite loud and I have not been crafting as much.

This card was for the October Sketch for You to Try - I found it a bit tricky as I couldn't figure out what bits to stick out from behind my image.  After playing around a bit with envelopes, I dug out this Portobello Road postage set that my Mum brought back from England.  The postage stamps and the 'happy mail' sentiment really went well with the Lily of the Valley image, and I think it turned out pretty cute.  Two Christmas cards down, many more to go!

Sheepish...

I seem to have missed World Card Making Day yesterday - hubby is away for the long weekend and so for a treat, I took the kid's to Saunder's Farm.  It's a local 'pumpkin patch' type place (that has long since grown beyond the pumpkins!) which I have avoided in the past because it's rather spendy.  It turns out it's well worth the dollars, we spend the entire day there and I had to drag the kids out kicking and screaming.  Wagon rides, haunted barns, tons of mazes, play structures and more.  The best part was the jumping pillows - giant inflated pillows set into the ground.  Most of the parents stood around and watched, but there was a small group (myself included) jumping and laughing hysterically.  Seriously, way too much fun!

My youngest jumping up a storm
However, I did manage to make a card the night before we went - not last night as I passed out soon after the kids did!  This is for the Cat's Pajamas Sketch Challenge - I'm still working my way through my new Cat's PJ's stamps I got a month back.   Love this sheep almost as much as the bunnies, and the sentiment just cracks me up.  Hat head anyone?

First Christmas card

This was supposed to go up last night, but an unexpected power outage derailed my plans.  We suspect someone hit a pole as the phone lines were also down.  It was kind of nice to have an excuse to go to bed early - I needed that!
Luckily, I had finished this card the night before - my first Christmas card of the season!  I paper pieced the image, and then kept the layout simple to showcase it.  I think a little dab of sparkle might brighten it up a bit though - Christmas cards are better with bling!
